World Congresses |
IASSID sponsors international congresses once every four years. These international meetings provide an exciting opportunity for presenting recent findings as well as keynote addresses about major advances in the biological, behavioral, and social sciences related to intellectual disabilities. These advances are also addressed in presentations concerned with progress in the provision of services and supports for persons with intellectual disabilities. The most recent Congress was held in Capetown, South Africa in August 2008. The next World Congress will take place in Halifax, Canada in 2012. Information NOMINATIONS - IASSID EXECUTIVE 2012-2016 The next Assembly of IASSID, which will be held during the World Congress in Halifax July 2012, will see the election of a President-elect and a Treasurer for the period 2012-2016. Nominations have been accepted for these positions, and we ask you to consider the candidates. AWARDS The Tosinvest-San Raffaele Group Announces Two Sets of Monetary Awards to Support Scholars with Attending the 14th World Congress of the IASSID in Halifax, Canada Three categories of awards, MENCAP Fellowships, Special Interest Research Group Fellowships, and a Special Interest Group Travel Award have been established to support participation of young researchers at the 2012 IASSID World Congress to be held in Halifax, Canada from July 9 to July 14, 2012. IASSID invites nominations for Distinguished Service Awards in research, scientific literature and service, and Distinguished Service Citation. Awards will be presented at the 2012 IASSID World Congress.
IASSID FELLOWS
Fellowship in IASSID is recognition by peers in the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities of outstanding contributions in the field of intellectual disabilities. This recognition comes at varying points of a member's career and outstanding activities are as diverse as contributions to our greater knowledge of intellectual disabilities through research, public service, teaching or education, practice and significant participation in the Association.
